Boston is a welcoming city renowned for its cultural facilities, educational institutions, sports teams, and its significance in American history. The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge hotel that overlooks the Boston skyline and is conveniently situated along the scenic Charles River.
Transportation: The Cambridge/Boston area is served by Logan International Airport as well as Amtrak train service and various regional bus lines. The website for local public transportation is www.mbta.com. Their trip planner always comes in handy. For transportation to/from Logan Airport, taxi service is available, costing approximately $35. Subway service, referred to in Boston as the “T”, also serves Logan and can be used to get to the Hyatt Regency Cambridge hotel in combination with the hotel shuttle service (7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.) to T-stops at Kendall Square, Boston University West, and Harvard Square as well as to Cambridgeside Galleria. This is on a first come, first served basis. The hotel no longer rents bicycles. There are rental options such as Hubway close to some of the T stops. Use the link “Travel and Tour Information” on the conference web page as a starting point for gathering more information.
Weather: During July, the average temperature in Boston ranges from a low of 65º F (18º C) to a high of 82º F (28º C). July can be humid and somewhat rainy, so it is best to be prepared for rainfall. All conference venues will be air-conditioned.
Visa Requirements: See the US State Department Visa Services page.
Tipping: In the Boston area a tip of 15-20% in restaurants and 10% for taxis is typical. Bell staff are usually tipped $3 per bag, and housekeeping staff are usually tipped $3-5 per day. Tipping is always your choice.
